A Good Word For You Today…A deeper look in your Bible

I had a conversation with a brother during a bible study this summer.  As we went over the passage Acts 13:1 [13 Now in the church (assembly) at Antioch there were prophets (inspired interpreters of the will and purposes of God) and teachers: Barnabas, Symeon who was called Niger [Black], Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a member of the court of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.] that shows that Christianity was displayed by Jesus to be a GLOBAL lifestyle for ALL people.  (John 3:16)
It was not to be a WESTERNIZE/North American RELIGION that was brutally forced on people who were raped, enslaves, ripped from their families and treated savagely down through the years thus telling them that there was a better place called HEAVEN waiting for them.
Jesus’ charge to his men in Matthew 28 was to MAKE DISCIPLES, NOT slaves!  That’s what the devil will do to mankind.  [Romans 6:16 -Do you not know that when you continually offer yourselves to someone to do his will, you are the slaves of the one whom you obey, either [slaves] of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness (right standing with God)]?
Sadly, even today it is hard to tell when we live among some who claim to be Christians in the Body of Christ.
Do you know the true roots of the Bible BEFORE it came to North America?  Let me share with you some facts!
Which church fathers were African?
The African Church Fathers (Tertullian, Minucius Felix, Cyprian, Lactantius, Optatus of Milevi, Augustine) belonged to the rather short-lived African Church of the first five centuries of Christianity. It was a soil mostly plowed by sufferings from persecutions and fertilized by heresies and threatening schisms.
Tertullian was born around 150 AD and is considered one of the three great early church fathers from Northern Africa. Known for being a militant Christian that wrote against many heresies, his writings have created the framework for some of the most important theological beliefs of the church.
Athanasius, also known as the “Black Dwarf” was the tag his enemies gave him. And the short, dark-skinned Egyptian bishop had plenty of enemies. He was exiled five times by four Roman emperors, spending 17 of the 45 years he served as bishop of Alexandria in exile. Yet in the end, his theological enemies were “exiled” from the church’s teaching, and it is Athanasius’s writings that shaped the future of the church.
